Our fearless pilots (Tom Kohrs, Don Willis, Luu Nguyen, Fritz Frey, and Keith Jarrett)  gathered for their morning coffee at the Starbucks on the corner of US50 and Missouri Flats Road for an 06:20 departure.  Heading down to Diamond Springs put the patrol on Hwy 49 for a short distance before splitting off onto Pleasant Valley road, then south onto Bucks Bar Road.  Bucks Bar becomes Grizzly Flat Road at the town of Somerset.  The patrol continued up the hill and made a loop of Grizzly Flats before heading back down E16 to Fairplay and onto Omo Ranch Road.  The trip back down the hill was on Shake Ridge Road and the towns of Volcano, Sutter Creek, Amador City and then back home.  The roads were very good and light on traffic until Hwy 49 in Sutter Creek.

Rest stop at in front of the volcano Amphitheater.  This is the break from driving after coming down the very challenging Ram's Head Grade.  A section of road that will tell you very quickly how well balanced your car is.
