Niello Acura sponsored a 1 day NSX exclusive driving school at the Thunderhill Race Park in Willows, CA. The logistics were performed by the Sacramento Chapter of the NSXCA and instructors provided by the Golden Gate Chapter of the BMWCA.

12 NSX's met at Niello Acura in Sacramento before the caravan up to Thunderhill. Niello had 5 NSX's on the lot and in the show room plus the Honda CART car display. Half way up the Sacramento group linked up with another 6 cars from the Bay Area.
We had 41 NSX's and 39 active students show up at the race track on the day of the school. Cars arrived from all over Northern and Central California. The biggest groups coming from the Bay Area and Sacramento. Honda brought their CART car (unfortunately, only a static display), Comptech had a display with many of their NSX add-ons and Niello brought a White 2000 Comptech supercharged car. Dali, RM and Yokohama all sent goodies for give-aways and for a raffle.

Some of the 41 student cars lined up in the paddock at Thunderhill waiting for the start of the school. Even in September is can be a bit chilly at 7:00 in the morning.
About half of the drivers arrived in Willows the night before with Caravans from Sacramento and San Francisco meeting up along the way. 37 people arrived for dinner that night at eh Santa Fe Cafe. Those that made the dinner received hats, shirts and key chains courtesy of the various sponsors.

The next morning saw the remaining cars arrive bright and early. With a drivers meeting at 8:00 and laps starting at 8:45, this was looking like a busy day.

Once the activities were underway, the cars moved to the Hot Pits. Here the drivers picked up instructors before heading out onto the track.
In all everyone saw at least 2 hours of track time plus classrooms. A lot of learning. A lot of driving. Even though we had 6 spins on the day, the damage consisted of 2 broken front spoilers, one cracked mirror, and some slightly bruised ego's. Everybody drove home with big smiles on their faces.

Glen Ghomeshi and his instructor fly down the front straight. Top speeds can reach about 120mph before braking into turn 1.
After the driving was completed for the day, the club raffled off more prizes from the sponsors. Niello donated an NSX car cover, Dali, as set of sway bars, RM Racing sent brake pads, and Comptech sent a denim shirt and a leather jacket.

Our Sponsor, Vince Gregory of Niello Acura, drives his supercharged white 2000 up the line of cars on the track.
People began to pack up everything, including Glen who manages to carry 4 racing tires in his car, contemplating the lessons learned during the day and the drive home. Though we were all tired from a day of driving and being in the sun, everyone went home with a big smile on their face.
