May Meeting

Big thanks to Tom and Elaine Brady for hosting the club at their beautiful house and put on a onderful dinner spread.

NSXPO ‘03

o       Conference call last weekend.  Thanks to Hrant for going out and pulling in sponsors.

o       Sponsors: Anyone on the website has donated something.  3M donated paste wax and cloth… etc… Helmet – Ted Chan donated.  American Honda is putting 23K into this event, 18K for luncheon, other mailouts and goodies.  Niello has put in 10K, other goodies and stuff. 3K from Zymo.  Comptech supercharger at ebay may net 3-6K.  Sponsorship stands at >~35K in total…

o       Limit 88 students at track.  Need $520 to break even.  With Niello sponsorship, it can be dropped to $420.  This is the lowest that Hrant has ever come across.

o       Registration: America Honda helps bring registration fees down to $255.

o       Fabrication Specialties is sponsoring lunch at RPM, which is planned for Thu.

o       Financially, we are good.  Marketing wise, brochure being worked on, should be able to mail out in July.

o       3 areas on how goodies will be distributed: Door prizes.  If $500-$700 or up to $1000 can make it a silent auction.  Eg, Helmet may bring in more revenue.

The social event is pretty tight,  full schedule.  Optional golf at Wed – Brian in charge.  Registration/reception: wine and cheese on Wed evening.  Dinner on your own.  Thu – Go to Rancho Cordova for Karting, 11-2pm.  Go to Comptech for tour and light refreshments.  Back to Yardville, for dinner at Napa Valley Grille.  Fri – Start with Track walk early.  Be allowed to walk around the track with instructors explaining.  Test & Tune group there, so we need to get off the track early.  3 Tech sessions of 1-1.5hrs each, concourse going on at the track.  Fri night or earlier, squeeze in classroom session for instructors and advanced students.  Fri night, cocktail hr, banquet and program (‘professional’ comedian lined up – club member).  Fri night will also hand out awards for concourse etc.  Sat – Track early.  Go out of gates at 7am, register etc.  Jim Grinstead will be running event.  Fri-Sat-Sun, lunch is provided.  Fri lunch is banquet sponsored by American Honda.  Expect 200 to be registered.  Sat evening banquet.  Sun track again… Sun night, folks can head home etc.  Breakeven is 150 signups.

Future Track Events

NCRC runs track event with more emphasis on speed and varying car participation.  We will partner up with NCRC and will be our official track coordinator.  More potential track events for us to go to.  We can add Laguna Seca and Infineon etc. to where we can have future track events etc.  Since we have worked out the deal, no requirement need to pay for their club membership.  It’s a 1-yr commitment for 2004 only (they have donated $750 to NSXPO), excludes Labor Day weekend where we may continue to have Niello Acura to help sponsor an NSX only event.
