Meeting Minutes
24 October 2006
The October meeting of the Sacramento Chapter of the NSXCA
was held on the 24th at
Athenian Grill in Fairfield.
Attendance was a total of 20 people. Among the attendees were Carlos and
Shane and his friend, both from San Jose, Bill form San Ramon. Sacramento
Chapter attendees were: Al, Mike, Jeff F, Tom P, Shad, Rob, Lito, Hrant,
Nick, Aaron, Carl, Calvin, Steve, Fritz, Joseph and Valerie.
Treasurer's Report - Joseph
- TrackMasters' Account is resolved; the club has about $5000 in the
treasury.
Hrant will pursue with Tom Kohrs regarding Joseph having access to NSXCA
Sacto Chapter PayPal account
Old Business
- Wine Tour in the foothills - Calvin offered some options as well as
discussed the opportunity of having a December program with Acura of
Stockton
- Charity function - Lito explored the program for children with
behavioral problems that he has participated with in East Bay. He will
pursue this as well as other options
- The questions from Al Terpak to Tom Kohrs
(1)Tom provided the answers noting that in the past, using the
count meter on the website, very few people were looking at the web or the
minutes so he hadn't worried much about it.
(2) Regarding securing the $5 to the Sacramento Chapter from
those who select affiliation with the chapter, it has been discussed with
Ken Sax, the national Treasurer who indicated that he was making the proper
designation/acounting; this was to be on a case by case basis rather
than a unilateral expansion of the zip code coverage area, at least for
now. The Board has also been briefed.
- Web updates - Steve discussed the need the need to update the webpage
and will pursue it with Tom Kohrs the webmaster. Hrant noted the club
could use some of the funds if necessary
- Bay/Sacto Drive on 10/14-15. Talk of an annual event: Both Carlos and
Bill discussed their drive and it looks some of the roads are a must
for enthusiasts - unless you are concerned about tarantulas!
New Business
- Coordination of events with Bay - Shane/Carlos/Steve/Al/Bill
and Hrant were vocal in the discussion. All agree a better coordination is
needed and it seems that the Bay area needs a little push to organize itself
as a more formal group. Carlos volunteered to be the lead.
- The Dead Fish for future dining
http://www.thedeadfish.com/ - Hrant noted that given
the low response, it was best to table this event until after the New Year,
this way it would also free the farewell party to Nalesh at Hoover's.
However, since the meeting yesterday, it appears that quite a
few Sacramentans were/are still interested in going to The Dead Fish and
have the club meeting that date instead of the 10/21. I understand that
there was a reluctance to pursue this given the potential conflict that this
might cause one or two who would be not-available. If this is still the
intent of the club members (those who attended should be more vocal in the
future) and those who did not can still make their wished known, then we can
still make the club meeting at the Dead Fish on 11/18 and we can make it a
lunch meeting if it helps with the schedule. Please let me know ASAP -
within the next 24 hours as I must let the restaurant know. But I will not
pursue this with only 10 interested parties. We need a minimum of 20 - and I
told Shane the same if he still wants to coordinate the sent-off party for
Nalesh with Hoover at the Dead Fish as well.
- Another member from our group joins the instructor ranks - Hrant
noted that Kip Olson will be joining the ranks of NSXCA instructor (as well
as TrackMaseters - though we all know this was long overdue even though Kip
is doing it reluctantly. Very few have Kip's experience of handling an NSX
at the speeds that he carries thanks to Shad and Comptech ...... ;-)
- Track Events, check the schedules:
- Other new business - none
Next meeting: Location for November: in Davis on 11/21 (the
third Tuesday) - details to follow from Joseph and Valerie. See
above comments under the Dead Fish discussion
