RPM karting update In order to get a group discount for karting, we need about 15-20 people to show interest. We don't have details on the date and price yet, so at this time we are just looking for those who are interested in participating. You can confirm or cancel your interest after we know what the rest of the logistics look like. If we get a group rate, we will likely go on a Monday night, when they are running the entire track and have pizza and soft drinks included in the price. As of last night's count, we don't have enough interested members for a group discount. If we aren't able to get a large group, we may just do something smaller with those who are interested. September BBQ - Sunday, Sept 26th Since the Sacramento Chapter hosted the Spring Fling this year, the Bay Area Chapter would like to show their gratitude and reciprocate by hosting the summer BBQ. Date/Time: Sunday, September 26, 2010 - 11:00 A.M. Location: Brisbane Marina, 400 Sierra Point parkway, Brisbane, CA 94005 - North Lawn area. Cost per person is only $10. Menu includes: Hamburgers Vegetarian Burgers Grilled Chicken Hot Dogs/Hot Links Potato Salad Chips Soda/Water Dessert Lisa, Avani and I will be there. I would like to get a caravan of Sacramento members going together. If you would like to go, please respond to me directly and I'll get your name on the list. Bring your folding chairs and camera. 3. AcuraFest in Fresno - Saturday, Oct 9th (this is a BIG ACURA event). Acurazine has invited us to Acurafest to get Acura enthusiasts together for a day of fun and an evening of socializing and more fun. I've been working with the organizers and they are really excited about getting NSXs to the event this year. Words like "guests of honor" for the NSXs have been thrown around. AcuraFest 2010 This years event will be held at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, on Saturday, October 9th, 2010. Last year's turnout was far better than expected with over 140 Acura's and 600 attendees. Caravans will be arriving from all over including San Diego, San Fransisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles. So set aside your October 9th weekend! Chukchansi Gold Resort is a perfect weekend getaway with ample & secured parking for us all! This event will have last years sponsors such as Acura of Fresno, showing off the latest Acura fleet, Heel Toe Auto, bringing you performance parts, and more sponsors! The top lot of their new parking structure is reserved exclusive to this event. October 9th weekend (Columbus Day) provides cooler, yet still beautiful weather. We are not able to have a BBQ on the venue per venue policy, but there will be catered lunch, as well as wide variety of dinning experiences within the resort from the Noodle Bar, to the Buffet. Live DJ and a live art show will be setting the atmosphere during the event just as last year. Car show categories include: Best of Performance, Best of Show, Best of Stance, Best of Audio, and more. New Acura Line-up will be available to test drive (there is a mountain road adjacent hint hint). The casino itself is a footstep away from the event if your feeling lucky and want to put $20 on black. Drive, arrive, and check-in! We have also worked extra hard to get a huge discount on the room rates, and they have set aside a block of their hotel specially to Acurafest, so I encourage everyone to stay as we are finalizing the details of the After Party! Room rates are only $99 a night, which you can also split if your sharing it with someone else. To reserve your room, please call (559) 692 - 5200, and refer to Block # BAF-1009 for special pricing. This code is all you need and they will make sure your room is in our section of the hotel with the discount. NOTE: We have UNTIL OCTOBER 1st to benefit from the $99 rate. After that, the rooms we have as part of our reserved “BLOCK” will be released to the other event. (Unless you use your AAA discount for a $139 rate) The resort has a personal Tribal Event going on at the opposite side of the property. If you do manage to get them before the other group, you will pay the REG price of $159 after Oct 1st. Remember, the rooms WILL SELL OUT, if not by us, by them. These rooms are limited so don't sleep on it! After-Party Pool Lounge For the After Party, we will be securing their (heated indoor/outdoor) pool-lounge for us exclusively. There will be a no-host bartender to serve and mix up drinks, as well as music. Great part about this is that this area will be accessible to all, but it's 21+ to drink. Will be updated with more details as we hear back from resort Canyon Cruise For those staying, there will also be a cruise up the backside of the mountain to a local lake the morning after, from where we can relax and enjoy the view before the caravan back. Lastly, because of last years turn out, we decided to keep this more exclusive to Acura owners/members only. Hope to see you all there! Driving Ambition has been invited to participate in the Laguna Seca Global Tuner Grand Prix in a class called "Open / Unlimited". This will truly be "run what you brung" racing with no restrictions. Shad is working on DA participation details, and if all works out, I'd like to see some of us head down on the day the Driving Ambition team is running and show our local support. Christmas / Holiday party update The group at dinner last night agreed that having the Christmas/Holiday dinner at Crawdad's is good. Gene has been working with them and will begin to finalize details with the restaurant. We will have a special area just for our group and it will be nice to have our event on the river again. We are bringing the White Elephant gift exchange back again this year. In addition, we are adding Toys for Tots to our program. More details will be available in coming weeks.
